Case Study 2

This is a rock magazine, I bought it for £3.99, and this is the average price according to my research. This is called psychological pricing.
The cover of this magazine is red, red is a bright appealing colour and it is eye catching. There is a lot going on within the page. There are lots pictures and cover lines. On the left side there are lots of stories for people to become intrigued in.
The magazine offers a free CD and poster which captivates consumers and they feel like they have just purchased a bargain. This is located in the bottom left corner this is so when the magazines are stacked you can see the free CD and you're more likely to pick it up.
The models on the front of the cover are relevant to the theme of the magazine and by making the models look pale the hair of the woman looks bright. By having red all over the magazine it symbolises as danger so people are more likely to look twice and become drawn in. Yellow is a bright colour that can be read on a distinctive background.

This is the contents page of a rock magazine I purchased. Looking at the contents page I can see that there is an introduction on what the magazine is about in the top left corner. This is useful which makes it easier for a consumer to find out what the magazine is about rather than flicking through it.
The contents page contains many images from articles throughout the magazine, this is something visual for readers to look at, I think this looks good. Around the images it has the page numbers so you can relate content to an image. There are also coloured outlines that act as borders for each image to show they're separate, this is useful because there are multiple images all over the page.
In the red box in the right hand corner the it has a list of pages with the titles of bands and their albums that feature in the magazine. In the black box next to it has the rest of the page numbers that contain small articles about upcoming bands. In yellow box on the right side at the bottom of the magazine contains a review section that is written by the public and their views.
The colours on this page are relevant to the theme of the magazine, this shows consistency.

his is an article from the rock magazine, Rock Sound. It has a big image to show people who the band are.
The publisher of this article as used bright colours. Again they have used a colour that has been used throughout the magazine which shows consistency. The background of the article is a scrunched lined paper, this gives it an effect that is perhaps associated with the band.
There is a big font used for the headings and headlines in the magazine, this makes it bold and noticeable.

The article is filled with many quotes and information.
